Heavy Duty Vehicle Transmission Control

An internation manufacturer with a reputation for high quality and performance of heavy-duty off-highway power transmission equipment was in need of an updated transmission control. Heavy duty Vehicle Control The new control must sustain existing applications, both electronically and mechanically, as well as provide increased functionality to support the next ten years growth of the transmission product line.

Upgraded features include:

Tighter control of valve drive circuits
EMC Performance improvement
Valve drive over-current protection
Multiple independent sensor excitation voltage sources, regulated and protected
Data logging and field programmability

SMT Engineering's Solution

SMT Engineerin successfully designed, prototyped and tested a transmission control that reinforces the customer's reputation for high quality and performance. Some of the design challenges SMT conquered were:
Adding an abundance of features while maintaining the mechanical enclosure dimensions of the previous control.

Identifying electronic components that offer the latest technology as well as guarantee a product life span of at least ten years.

In addition, SMT Engineering designed the transmission control to pass a suite of testing which included salt spray, EMC (radiated and conducted, temperature and humidity, immersion, pressure wash, vibration and mechanical shock, and others.

The Outcome

SMT Engineering delivered a quality, precise transmission control, rugged enough to withstand the harsh environment seen by heavy-duty off-road vehicles.
