Surface Mount Technology Corp. was founded in 1997 by Mr. Christopher C. Sumnicht. The goal was to provide world-class electronic manufacturing services and design engineering technology to companies of all sizes, not just large corporations. Headequartered in Appleton, WI SMT is ideally located to provide services to customers across the United States.

Experiencing steady growth SMT was able to expand its operating space in 2009 and 2010 with a 6,000 sq. ft. expansion to house SMT Engineering LLC. based on customer demand for design services. A second expansion of 25,000 sq. ft. took place shortly after to accommodate Higher Level Assembly processes and projected production growth.
